Minor Bridge Construction

In my opinion bridges are a last option. Bridges are built when there's absolutely no reasonable way around a given condition.

Bridges should be built to look as though they belong at that location. In some situations this condition cannot be met in which case all effort should be made to make the bridge look as natural as possible. There are many bridge types to choose from:

  • truss style; hip truss, overhead truss
  • Tressel style
  • log stringer
  • suspension

And there are many materials to choose from:

  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Fiberglass
  • Concrete

Abutments can vary:

  • A buried log
  • Wooden crib structure
  • Gabions
  • Geotextile
  • Engineered concrete abutments

Our experience has been limited to smaller wooden bridges with some experience in larger fiberglass up to 60 feet in length.
